I saw this painting at the Mauritshuis, a wonderful museum in the Hague, while I was traveling around Europe in my twenties. I love the detail of the tiny chain and the highlights on the wooden perches. It’s one of my all-time favorite paintings. I was inspired to paint a copy for myself!
